Justine is a 21 year old Filipina and Chinese artist from the Bay Area. Growing up, she attended schools with predominantly white, middle class students which made her feel disconnected and unrepresented at times. As a result, Justine has grown to become an artist who authentically embraces her roots as a queer creative. She aspires to inspire brown girls, women, and people all over the world to embrace themselves too.
As most of us know, AAPI along with other Black and Brown folk are often subjected to unrealistic stereotypes and expectations in society. With that being said, Justine suggests that by existing and being true to ourselves, we defy all expectations and stereotypes that have been forced upon us. Be everything and anything you want to be as long as you’re not harming anyone.
Justine honors herself and her ancestors by creating paintings, poetry, and singing videos. She looks forward to having her art featured in galleries, as well as publishing poem books, and preforming her poetry and music live. Justine’s singing can be heard on youtube and her art and poetry can be seen on her Instagram @fr33yourmhind ✨
